variety is the spice of life
In this section of my blog, I would like to share some external links, videos or pieces of literature that I found inspiring, interesting or simply beautiful and in my view are worth sharing. There is not limit in the sense of subjects, thus you might find very random selection of various themes.
However, I will always provide a brief explanation of how I came to notice the particular piece as well as its relevance to me personally.
A Poison Tree by William Blake
I was angry with my friend:
I told my wrath, my wrath did end.
I was angry with my foe:
I told it not, my wrath did grow.
And I watered it in fears,
Night and morning with my tears;
And I sunned it with smiles,
And with soft deceitful wiles.
And it grew both day and night,
Till it bore an apple bright.
And my foe beheld it shine.
And he knew that it was mine,
And into my garden stole
When the night had veiled the pole;
In the morning glad I see
My foe outstretched beneath the tree.
How a girl silenced the world
Sometimes, adults forget that they were young once, also forgetting about a child's perspective of the world. In 1992, a young girl spoke during the United Nations Conference on Environment and Development, silencing the attendants for minutes.
No more words:
Tool and toy in one
A tool I became acquainted with during my first English university course and that, after all those years, has still remained in my memory. It creates word clouds, giving prominence to those words that appear more frequently in the text that is being inserted. The user can adjust the clouds with various fonts, layouts, and colours.
It reminds me of the whole atmosphere of the small room with only 16 students, all utterly new to the university setting, everybody a little scared of the fierce professor, who by now has become a treasured mentor and dear friend to me. This post is dedicated to her and the valuable council she provided.
Painting words with pictures
I am aware of the fact that with this post, I am advertising on an own account, as what will follow is my brother David's photography blog.
During the last few years I have seen him grow and thrive in his photographic advancements as well as in his linguistic development.
In his blog, he pairs both of those skills quit brilliantly in combining word and picture in an artistic symbiosis that makes it a pleasure to view and read.

Destination: Himalaya
Michael Palin is one of the BBCs renowned television presenters who has - besides plenty other works - also filmed a most fantastic travel series through the various regions around the Asian mountain range Himalaya. An inspiring and intriguing insight into peoples lives all around the gigantic and majestic stone formation. You will see their sufferings and their struggles as well as their joys and happiness living in the highest region of the earth.
In six episodes, Palin discovers the famous Pakistani and Indian hospitality, meets the Dalai Lama and witnesses the highest polo match in terms of altitude. Spectacular bull races and breath-taking views are only a few of the fantastic features this series has to offer and I recommend it to everybody who is interested of getting a thorough view of the highest region of the world.
